My Role
Across 4 months with Intersystem Controls, I had the privilege to work on a mix of print design, advertising design, and UI design. In the first half of my co-op term, I worked on landing screens for smart home interfaces. Later in the term, I focused on optimizing Intersystem Controls Wordpress website and increasing exposure through social media posts. The final outcome of the projects were a multitude of deliverables across different mediums, allowing for a breadth of new skills to be developed.
Results
Increased brand consistency across print and digital media.
Scheduled social media content on LinkedIn and Instagram, increasing reach by 60%, engagement by 72% and following by 2%.
Optimized WordPress website to increase inbound clicks by 3% with addition of portfolio page to showcase Intersystem Controls work.
What I learned
Be a champion of my own work
As the sole designer, I had the freedom and independence of taking initiatives and proposing new projects. However, having worked in environments where I always had a design mentor to assign feedback, I had to adapt to trusting my own skills and expertise as the sole designer at the company. I quickly adpated to communicating my design decisions to my coworkers who did not come from a design background.
